The date is May 19, 1919… Mustafa Kemal arrives in Samsun as the Inspector of the 9th Army. His primary duty is to maintain order in the region. He does so, but that day marks the beginning of something far greater: the National Struggle, the War of Independence!

THE BENEFICS ARE AT WORK!
In the astrological chart drawn for 7:00 AM, the morning Mustafa Kemal landed in Samsun, we see Pluto, Venus, and Jupiter projecting onto the horizon. Venus, in particular, is projected very close to the horizon. In astrology, Venus and Jupiter are described as “benefics”. The sign of Cancer, where these planets are located, is also associated with the sea and sea voyages. Furthermore, we will see that Cancer was rising again during the proclamation of the Republic, making it a very historic and significant moment.

A REFORMIST INTELLECTUAL MAN
We mentioned that Venus and Jupiter are described as “benefics.” We see that Venus is aligned with the Mirzam, a star which falls at 7 degrees Cancer. Pluto, which is in conjunction with Venus and signifies great change and transformation, creating impact, charisma, great revolutions and reforms, is also aligned with this star. See what Australian expert astrologer Bernadette Brady says about this star: “This is the star that rises before Sirius in the northern hemisphere and was called by the Egyptians “The Announcer”. Its energy seems to be about making a statement, of carrying a message. It can show someone who brings new ideas to the world or, new physical feats. However, the person may be all potential with no outcome.” Doesn’t that perfectly describe our Atatürk?
SAMSUN IN FOCUS
When we project the planetary alignments of the moment Mustafa Kemal arrived in Samsun onto a geographical atlas, we see that the line where Pluto, the representative of the great struggle, transformation, and revolutions, coincides with the horizon plane is over Samsun. Could this be a coincidence? Yes, the great struggle will begin from Samsun. You can see this geographical map below.

SMALL STEPS, BİG RESULTS
When Mustafa Kemal set foot in Samsun, the “great benefic” planet Jupiter was also in conjunction with Sirius, one of the most benefic stars. The Egyptians called Sirius, which was also used in the sense of the search for immortality, “Shining” or “Burning.” Historically, most calendars were derived according to Sirius. It is also mentioned as “Shira” in the Quran. In astrology, Sirius is associated with sacred or devoted actions; it is associated with transforming small steps into great acts of devotion, finding the sacredness in ordinary daily actions. It has always been associated with great and sacred actions. It transforms small personal actions into great sacred moments. Finding the sacred in worldly actions is equated with self-sacrifice and dedication to great manifestations. It expresses the thought that one’s life is part of something greater; the search for dedication to noble purposes. It makes those it influences into a protective guardian or responsible person (Brady). In my classes at the Astrology School, I explain this star with the principle “Small actions produce great results.” And that’s exactly what happened. The step taken in Samsun subsequently brought about very significant developments.

THE END OF THE ‘SICK MAN’
At the moment of the first step in Samsun, the Sun and Mars are conjunct in Taurus, representing physical and material security and land. The Sun represents a reliable leader, and Mars represents struggle and warfare. The primary aim in initiating the National Struggle is to drive the enemy, who has entrenched themselves in our homeland, from our lands. The square aspect between the Sun and Mars conjunction and Saturn, which is in a debilitated position in Leo, is moving away. Saturn’s debilitating placement in Leo, which represents governance, almost perfectly describes the situation of the Ottoman Empire, which was defined as the “Sick Man” at that time. The determined and courageous commander, represented by the Sun and Mars, is burning with the desire to be free from the controlling oppression created by this sick man. The end of the “Sick Man” is coming.
HISTORIC ERUPTION!
On May 19, 1919, the largest and most destructive eruption of the 20th century, Mount Kelut, occurred. As I have consistently mentioned in my writings, major volcanic eruptions coincide with significant solar events. The charts for 1919 show high levels of solar activity. I don’t know if there was a major solar flare around May 19, 1919. However, the heliocentric astrological chart for that day shows a very powerful energy being released. In the chart below, we see compressive and explosive angles of 90 and 180 degrees between the planets. This means there was such a powerful accumulation that, like the great volcanic eruption that followed, it also brought about a wave of awakening and liberation, a wave of awakening driven by a desire for freedom.
GREAT CHANGE IS ON THE HORIZON
On this day, which signals the outward expression of a great accumulation of energy, our Ancestor, the person chosen by fate, fulfilled his mission to use this powerful energy to initiate a great movement. The Earth-Mars opposition signifies the initiation of a great struggle, while the Mercury-Uranus conjunction in opposition to Saturn represents a stance against restrictive and unhealthy authority and a desire for liberation. The Mercury-Uranus conjunction is also a sign of a great change and reforms that are on the horizon.
Happy National Day!
Happy Atatürk Commemoration, Youth and Sports Day! We remember with mercy and gratitude all those who sacrificed their blood and lives in this struggle for independence, on the road to freedom and the Republic, especially Commander-in-Chief Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades-in-arms. May our Republic, Atatürk’s gift to the youth, exist forever! We, the youth of today and those who were once youth, and those older than us, will continue to carry this legacy with pride and honor!
